DEATH * BY * METH

This is dedicated to Travis Holappa who was kidnapped, tortured and murdered on July 25, 2004 in Northern Minnesota. This was all due to meth. I am Travis' mother and I wish to make this devastation turn into a better thing by educating and exposing the truth about meth, the dangers, and the deadly consequences it brings about to individuals and communities.

I want to do what I can to educate people about what is going on around the world with the meth problem. I want people to know about it BEFORE they even get the idea to want to try it. It is a dangerous drug and will ruin your life as well as all those who love you. I am on a mission on behalf of my only son, Travis.

Another Meth Bust At Lebanon House (Ohio)

RELATED WCPO STORY
Meth Lab Found In Warren County Garage (3/28/06)

Reported by: 9News
Web produced by: Mark Sickmiller

An address in Lebanon is becoming more and more familiar to police officers.

For the second time in two weeks, police have arrested drug suspects at 830 Franklin Road.

First, police stopped a car leaving the driveway and the suspect admitted smoking marijuana.

Then, police came back and found Ronald Burke of Middletown and James Taylor of Hamilton in a barn behind the house allegedly making methamphetamine.

Burke's brother was arrested there two weeks ago.

All the suspects were in the Lebanon city jail Wednesday night.

Thank you for the work you've put into this site. I am so sorry for your unspeakable loss......

I think my sister is hooked on meth but I guess I am the only one. I live in a different state than she and my mother who lives near her thinks she is addicted to prescription drugs. But honestly, with all the sores on her face, the "bugs" she feels are under her skin, her loss of everything in her life including home, marriage, career. I just can't imagine it would be anything else. The thing is what signs distinguish meth abuse from other drugs? And what do you do if you suspect it? BTW my sister has a little girl and I am terrified for her. There are always strange people hanging around her house...people that no one knows.

Thank you again for your hard work. May God bless you with peace in your spirit and the knowledge that you are helping others.

I recently served on a grand jury. I certainly learned a lot from that experience. One was that this sort of case is not unusual at all, often when drug users and dealers have meth on them they also have marijuana.

This has caused me to ponder a lot lately on the number of cases where both meth and marijuana are involved. Now, I have always favored legalizing marijuana as a non-dangerous drug, but I have to wonder a little about why so many cases involve both (although there are certainly pot users who have nothing to do with meth). On one hand, the people who suggest it is a 'gateway' drug may have something. And dealers certainly are in a strong position to be able to 'introduce' pot users to meth. On the other hand, since both are illegal in general the same sources (dealers) will supply both, and if we sold Marlboro marijuana cigarettes at circle K then they would lose both the income and the ability to push meth on current pot users that they have now.

I will have to think about this some more.

In fact, I addressed some of this about a week ago when I blogged on my observations about the grand jury.

Phoenix news is reporting a record meth bust tonight by the Maricopa County Sheriff's dept. FYI-- probably will be some official news on it in the next couple of days.
