'It just grabs you and won't let you go'

While the drugs cooked on a hot plate in a closed garage, the young meth addict's 2-year-old son slept in his bedroom. His mother knew a mistake with the highly toxic chemicals could "blow up" the Deltona house.
"One little spark, and it will light you up," she said.
But the craving for methamphetamine consumed her.
It was an intense high beyond anything she had ever felt from ecstasy, acid or other drugs. She couldn't stop, no matter what the damage to herself or her son.
"I didn't care about anything else. My drive was to live just to get high," she said.
The 25-year-old brunette, who is not being named as she tries to re-establish her life, sat on a couch recently, less than two weeks shy of being released from Project WARM (Women Assisting Recovering Mothers), a women's substance-abuse treatment center in Daytona Beach.
She spoke of how the drug -- also known as crank, speed, ice or crystal meth -- took control of her life, including temporarily losing custody of her now 4-year-old son.
