DEATH * BY * METH

This is dedicated to Travis Holappa who was kidnapped, tortured and murdered on July 25, 2004 in Northern Minnesota. This was all due to meth. I am Travis' mother and I wish to make this devastation turn into a better thing by educating and exposing the truth about meth, the dangers, and the deadly consequences it brings about to individuals and communities.

I want to do what I can to educate people about what is going on around the world with the meth problem. I want people to know about it BEFORE they even get the idea to want to try it. It is a dangerous drug and will ruin your life as well as all those who love you. I am on a mission on behalf of my only son, Travis.

ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- Two people could face up to 30 years in jail after what police call the biggest methamphetamine bust in the county's history.
A Muskingum County grand jury heard about two people who were arrested following raids that collected $180,000 in drugs.

GO OHIO!
What can be done to help? Does it have to go to a Federal level? Even if the Feds pass some law... how will that help people out here now! The people who are becoming mesmerized and addicted to this drug? How will it help the families who have already lost their loved ones to this drug and to death because of this drug? The government is a very big machine to try and move around. How can we as citizens help in this "FIGHT ON METH!" Kim

I have been a supporter in the past of Teen Challenge (I'm not currently because of $$ situations!). It is a year-long, faith-based drug rehab program with an 80-90% success rate (a sgnificantly higher rate than most programs!) for those who stick with the program. (Kim, if you're already familiar with Teen Challenge, I'm posting this for the benefit of others who may read it!). The Minnesota branch's web site is www.mntc.org. Wherever you are, support programs like Teen Challenge that have high success rates among addicts. Volunteer for them. Encourage people in your life who have a drug or alcohol program to enroll. Drug addiction is an issue of supply and demand. A great line from the play (and now film!) "Rent," is when the character Roger, a former addict says to a dealer, "You didn't miss me, you won't miss her. You'll never lack for customers!" Sad, but true. We need to fight the addictions, not just the dealers.
