(CBS) BENSENVILLE, Ill. One person was arrested on Tuesday in Bensenville when members of the DuPage County Sheriff’s multi-jurisdictional Tactical narcotics unit (TNT) assisted by the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team, closed down a methamphetamine finishing operation.
Finishing labs refine manufactured raw methamphetamine, changing it from a powdery substance into crystal meth.
The execution of a search warrant led to the discovery of the lab. The house, in the 4N400 block of Ridgeland in Bensenville, had been under surveillance for weeks after a concerned citizen had given authorities a tip.
Homeowner Lawrence Schoenbeck was taken into custody and authorities seized 77 grams of crystal meth, which has a street value of about $15,000. Also seized were 30 grams of the date rape drug GHB, drug paraphernalia, a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner, and some cash.
Schoenbeck has been charged with four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, a class X felony. He is currently out on bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March eighth.
