Crystal meth, ecstasy among drugs seized
DURHAM -- A Whitby couple are among six people charged in a drug bust that saw police seize an estimated $200,000 worth of narcotics, including marijuana, ecstasy and crystal methamphetamine.
The Durham suspects were arrested along with others in York Region last Wednesday. Durham Regional Police drug and gang enforcement officers teamed with cops from York in an investigation that focused on crystal meth and led to the large seizure during morning raids in Whitby, Oshawa, Stouffville and Markham.
Among the drugs seized were thousands of ecstasy pills dumped into a toilet by a suspect as police arrived at a York location. The pills wouldn’t flush down and were recovered by officers, police said.
Six people are facing numerous charges as a result of the seizure of more than 412 grams of meth worth $41,000; almost 3 kg of ecstasy valued at nearly $146,000; 244 grams of cannabis resin; and 3 kg of marijuana worth a combined $20,000, police said.
Valerie Kyle, 30, of Vista Beach Court in Whitby is charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with the seizure of crystal meth. Douglas Kyle, 34, also of Vista Beach Court, faces four counts of possession, relating to meth, ecstasy, cannabis resin and marijuana.
Four people from York Region have also been charged.
