Police Find Meth Chemical Cache in Wheaton Townhouse (Washington DC)

Montgomery County police said yesterday that they found several gallons of chemicals used to make methamphetamine and the so-called date-rape drug GHB in a vacated townhouse in a new Wheaton development.
Local, state and federal law enforcement officials converged on the residence in the 11000 block of Amherst Avenue after the owner discovered five-gallon containers filled with chemicals about 11 a.m. Saturday.
The owner discovered the chemicals when he went to clean the house, which had been vacated by a renter, police officials said. Police declined yesterday to release the names of the owner, who is not a suspect, and the renter.
"Hopefully, we'll be able to arrest the past resident pretty soon," said Lt. Eric Burnett, a county police spokesman.
Maryland property records indicate that the owners of the townhouse are Craig and Julie Frick of Gaithersburg. They could not be reached for comment
