I jumped to Chapter 6 because it is Travis' story. I am very pleased with Mr. Anderson's writing and the way he has captured Travis' essence.

Scott's well written telling of Travis' story brought back the raw feelings from that fateful July. He wrote about Travis as if he knew him. As if he actually was the recipient of one of those famous smiles. Scott tells the stories of Kim and Brandy, making you feel the despair they felt at the time. I too skipped ahead to chapter 6, but I'm now reading the entire book. Excellent research and storytelling.
I'm sure this isn't the proper thread to post this but I wanted to use the most recent. I am 34 yrs male, Navy veteran of 10 years, both OEF and OIF, and now find myself in a battle with meth. I started using regularly around December and as of today, roughly 3 months later, I have lost my job, my home, and my wife of 12 years has taken my 7 yr old son and filed for a divorce. I am overdrawn almost $1,200 and do not know where to turn or what to do. Life has seemed to have slip past me as quietly as the shadows while removing everything of worth that I had and leaving me broken and embarrassed to be in public. I am searching for a way to get help but I have no money or resources. If any of you can share information that would help I would be so grateful. If I am able to beat this somehow my first goal is to get my family back. Also, I am interested in speaking and sharing my story to hopefully help others not make the mistakes I have. I once was a Naval Instructor and built bombs and programmed aviation missile systems as recently as 2009; now I do well to feed myself and keep clean clothes. Any words are welcomed. Jason, it's almost a year since your post, I hope you are on road to recovery...I'm writing this from Staten Island NY, reading the book Shadow People, found on Amazon after getting interested in subject of meth abuse from Breaking Bad, and led to this blog after reading chapter 6. I'm sure this web site is helping many, and many like me, a health care professional RN will seek it out for information...best wishes and hope for recovery to all, great blog

I knew Travis and worked with him, even hanging out a bit in our high school days. He was a unique person with a high capacity for love. I think about him from time to time. Today is one of those times. I bought the Shadow People book and was impressed with how it captured the story. Like many others I've read the court case and was horrified that Travis endured what he did. May his memory endure. Rest in Peace, Travis. - An old friend
